Day 7 - Bridgewater to Bristol

Day 7 was always going to be a tough one and so it proved. The exit from Bridgewater was not a smooth process - the easy canal towpath we had hoped for quicky became a forrest of reeds, briars, nettles and grass. A slow (25 minute) early km for the team. Things then got worse with a closed bridge generating some additional mileage.

Such obstacles were to be the theme of the day. One farm offered a triple helping of animal challenges - killer dog on a chain, then the attack goose and then a field of frisky cows which cornered us in a field. A slurry field then followed.

One of the pleasanter parts of the day was Cheddar Gorge and then the lovely trails round Velvet Bottom. There were further challenges on the descent but eventually Bristol ame into view. A run (or rather enforced 🀣 walk) over the Clifton Suspension Bridge before a run into the finish. A tough 42 miles to end week one ✅.

So after 7 days of running we have racked up 241 miles. Something like 790 to go. A rest day on Saturday, then Sunday morning we are off to Wales.πŸ˜ŽπŸ΄σ §σ ’σ ·σ ¬σ ³σ ΏπŸƒπŸ‡¬πŸ‡§
