Day 23 - Abington to Hamilton

Week 4 started just as week 3 had ended:  on the B7076. Thankfully for much of the final 32k on this road we had a cycle path to run on rather than the actual road.

I ran with Sarah and David again, up until lunch and we made pretty efficient progress.

After lunch, the rain came in and the cycle path ended, making for a fairly grim final 4k or so on the road, with fast traffic & heavy rain.

It was good to reach Latkhall (yes really!) and leave the road to move onto the trails. Progress became slower for me as muddier trails proved slippery for my road shoes.

The scenery improved as we moved into Chatelherault Country Park with riverside trails.

I arrived at CP3 just as Frances & Alan pulled up. We had a quick chat on the course, I then did the last 8km through Strathclyde Country Park, and we had a proper catch-up at the day's finish in Hamilton. Another 31 miles done.✅

Whilst enjoying tea & coffee with Frances & Alan, we "dot watched" their daughter Catherine Taylor come in 5th lady in her first 100 mile race (Epina 100) - a fabulous achievement.

For the Run Brit team Glasgow awaits tomorrow....

Felt obligated to take a photo of LEJOG sign even if the mileage is way less than what we will end up doing

South Lanarkshire - one of the few places in Scotland where the graffiti makes your top handful of photos!😉

Great to catch up with Frances & Alan

Even the geese didn't seem to like the weather at Strathclyde Country Park
