Day 21 - Lockerbie to Abington

It is a simple fact that if you want to run the length of the country using beautiful national trails like Offa's Dyke and The West Highland Way, that there will be duller days needed to link these section. Today was one of those days - 33 miles all in and the first 30 of those on the B7076.

The B7076 runs parallel with the M74 and with the forecast quite warm today, the plan was to try and cover the first 20km or so quickly while it was still relatively cool, take it easy (mainly walk) the climb up to Beattock Summit then run the test of the way. And that's what I did.

The highlight of the day was being joined by Phil & Paul - running buddies from Peebles, who provided some pleasant distraction from the B7076.

The only other real point of note, was that we officially reached the 1,000km mark.

And in reaching Abington, week 3 is complete. We have a rest day at the New Mills Hotel in New Lanark which will provide some very welcome recovery time.

The mind games of the B7076 - 3 miles closer to motorway junction but only 2 miles closer to Abington.🙄
