Day 19 - Askham to Carlisle

Day 19 has been the shortest mileage yet with just 24 mainly road miles to get us up to Carlisle.

Starting the day at Askham we ran through the Lowther Estate & past the castle before picking up minor roads into Penrith and checkpoint 1.

The route up to checkpoint 2 was running parallel to the M6, the start of a theme that will continue for a few days.

Checkpoint 2 was at Southwaite Services where we picked up Pacer Pete from Moorfoot Runners. Great to have his company & chat to get us through the last 8 miles of the day and lunch at the hotel in Carlisle.

A fairly relaxed afternoon ahead of a big day tomorrow. Just 12 miles from Gretna and the Scottish Border.

Sprinting into Checkpoint 2 (why?🤔)  - obviously keen to catch up with Pacer Pete.
